Thank you so much for posting all these wonderful picutures! I am Abe Thornton's Great Grand Daughter from his daughter Georgia Ann Thorton and her son Tom Ben Wagnon who is my father.
My mother was Elizabeth Thornton, daughter of Matthew Thornton. Matthew son of Benajah Thornton. Matthew is buried in a cemetery close by Weiss Dam with dozens of Thornton’s. My speculation is that Alabama Power relocated many graves before Weiss Lake flooded.
Correction, Matthew was the son of Daniel Webster Thornton who was the son of Benajah.
